The artist Jacob Schmitt from Mainz-Kostheim
11th October 1891 in Mainz, Silversmiths Jakob Schmitt was formed shortly before the First World War on to the Mainz art school and was faced with a master certificate. But he was drafted into the army and got on Christmas Eve 1914 in France by a gunshot both eyes. From 1915 to 1922 he attended the only blind man, the Frankfurt School of Applied Arts and dealt primarily with the large sculpture. Between 1919 and 1921 he created the plastic decoy, which is considered his most popular work. In 1934, the decoy was set up during the 80-year anniversary of the Mainz Improvement Society for a fountain in the flat market, but disappeared during the Second World War. Jacob Schmitt lived from 1923 to 1934 in Mainz-fare home in the Schiersteiner road 17 with in his own home studio. His stone sculpture created in 1929 Baby Jesus with the lamb, which was established in May 1932 on the playground at the Mary Help of church in Mainz-home food is lost. In 1935 he moved to Mainz-Kastel, where he worked in the redoubt in a large studio.
